1 Corinthians 3:10–17 – Brett Landry

Sermon by Brett Landry

Ten signs that you’re building with the wrong materials:

  1. Christ may be the foundation, but he is not the centre.
  2. Scripture is minimized or dismissed.
  3. Sin is re-defined to be culturally acceptable.
  4. Gospel doctrine with no gospel culture.
  5. Human leaders are the heroes of the stories.
  6. Big leadership personalities start to eclipse the message of the gospel.
  7. Repentance is preached but not modelled.
  8. Unnecessary division is tolerated.
  9. Sexual immorality is tolerated.
  10. Ministry is done with great strategy in an absence of prayer.

Ten signs that you’re building with the right materials:

  1. No one cares who gets the credit as long as God gets the glory.
  2. Evangelism and discipleship are at the forefront.
  3. The next generation is thought about in everything.
  4. They care more about reaching the city than preserving their comfort.
  5. If the church disappeared from the neighbourhood, the neighbours would be sad.
  6. People are eager to model generosity.
  7. The poor and marginalized are included and cared for.
  8. Everyone is equipped and empowered to use the gifts God has given them.
  9. The fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5) is evident to all.
  10. By being present, you’re somehow simultaneously comforted and challenged.
