For the past few years, our church has felt a growing sense that God is calling us to plant another church. As the Lord has graciously brought more people to our church, we have been asking Him what he wants us to do. After much prayer and discussion as elders, we believe that the Lord is leading us to plant a church in Richmond in 2026. We believe that God is leading us to plant a church in Richmond for a few reasons.
Firstly, while there are many churches already doing good gospel work in Richmond, there is still much work to be done. Our hope is to come alongside the other churches to co-labour with them and complement what God is already doing through them. Secondly, we have a number of people at Christ City who live and work and study in Richmond, who have expressed a desire to see something new there. And lastly, and most importantly, we believe that this is an act of obedience as we follow the Lord’s leading.
There is still much work to do as we organise our team for the plant, and we plan, Lord-willing, to share more details with you in the New Year. But for now, we feel this is the right time to share these plans with you, and to invite you to partner with us in three ways.
Firstly, would you pray with us, that we would be dependent on the Spirit’s leading, and courageous in following His direction.
Second, would you start asking the Lord if the plant is something He might be calling you to join. And lastly, would you consider partnering with us financially. For this year’s Advent Giving Campaign we are raising money for the Richmond Church plant, with a goal of $150,000. The campaign will run until 31st Dec 2025. All of the funds will go towards planting the church in strength, for the sake of a healthy church in Richmond for years to come.
