East Vancouver Advent Giving Campaign 2025

Each Advent, we raise funds for an initiative that goes above and beyond our regular budgeted giving. This year, as we prepare to launch Sunrise Church in September 2026, the Elders have set a goal of raising $20,000 to help cover the various start-up costs associated with moving into a new building and launching as a new church.

Anticipated start-up costs fall into three major categories: 

1. Preparing the Space

As we move into our new building, there are several practical needs required to prepare the space for weekly ministry. This includes installing clear and helpful signage, both inside and outside the building, as well as giving attention to basic cleaning and setup so the facility is ready to welcome people from day one. 

We also anticipate the need for additional furnishings, such as outfitting the ‘Teen Room’, and expanding our storage capacity with carts, bins, and shelving solutions. Finally, we are setting aside a contingency buffer for unexpected repairs or last-minute items that inevitably arise during a move and launch.

2. Sunday Ministries & Ministry Environments

A significant portion of our start-up costs relates to creating excellent and safe environments for the ministries that serve our church each Sunday. This includes potential upgrades to our sound system and Sunday tech, ensuring that worship and preaching are clear and accessible. Our Kids Ministry will also require new classroom supplies like tables, chairs, toys, curriculum materials, and safety equipment to support a growing number of young families. 

Additionally, items like hospitality equipment and greeter materials help us create a welcoming atmosphere for every person who walks through our doors.

3. Launch Communication & Visibility

As we prepare to launch under the name Sunrise Church, we also want to communicate clearly and effectively with our congregation and neighborhood. This includes producing printed materials such as invites and banners, building a church website that reflects our vision, and capturing high-quality photos and video to support our launch. These communication tools play an essential role in helping people discover who we are, what we believe, and how they can get connected as we begin this new season together.

We are inviting you to prayerfully consider giving toward this year’s Advent Giving Campaign. Every gift, whether large or small, directly helps us prepare well for this next chapter in the life of our church. As we look toward launching Sunrise Church, our hope is not simply to move buildings but to strengthen our ability to reach and disciple people in the Hastings–Sunrise neighborhood for years to come.
