Hurricane Melissa, one of the strongest hurricanes ever recorded, just made landfall in Cuba this past week. Cuba has been under communist rule for nearly seven decades and is already in a severe humanitarian crisis. This means that local people not only live in constant fear of speaking the truth but also face repeated periods of severe shortages of basic necessities, including food, medicine, water, and electricity. The existing crisis is likely to worsen in the aftermath of the hurricane.
In the midst of all these challenges the church in Cuba remains strong, doing all it can to preach the gospel and to live out the gospel in a way that brings hope. Yohan Sanchez, our ten:eighteen ministry Director, and his wife, Lily, grew up in Cuba and have been actively involved in supporting and sending aid for nearly ten years through a network of Cuban churches. In this time of need, we want to join them in this work.
As such, between November 2nd – 16th we will be opening a designated giving fund to send aid, such as food and hygiene supplies, that will be shipped directly to local partner churches in Cuba. Upon receipt, the churches will distribute the supplies to those in need within their communities.
If you would like to support, you can give here, or via the church centre app.
Would you continue to pray with us for our brothers and sisters and their neighbours in Cuba, that the Lord Himself will be a shelter and stronghold to those who have lost everything?
