COVID-19 & Sunday Gathering Change
Brothers and Sisters,
We have an important update for Christ City Church concerning the Coronavirus (COVID-19) in British Columbia.
In light of the recent mandate from B.C. health officials to stop larger gatherings, we have made the decision to NOT gather as normal on Sunday across our respective neighbourhood churches.
The health and safety of our church family is a priority as we consider both the official recommendation from the Minister of Health in BC and our responsibility as Christians to be God-honouring citizens in this city.
However, COVID-19 will not stop the church of Jesus Christ.
Church is still “happening” because we are the church and we are still going to gather, but instead of in a building, we’re going to meet in our homes.
…Introducing Christ City House Churches
We will be providing video teaching and resources as we encourage you to meet in your homes, in smaller groups of approx. 20 – 30, for worship, Word, and sacrament.
If you are already a part of a Community Group, please coordinate with your leaders to decide who might host, when you might meet on Sunday, and how to get access to the Sunday gathering resources.
If you are not part of a Community Group and wish to gather, tomorrow we will provide a list of people who have opened up their homes and would love to have you over. We anticipate this going on for several weeks, so please don’t wait to get in touch.
If you are experiencing any signs of fever or sickness please:
- Stay home and self-isolate
- Contact a primary care provider, local public health office, or call 8-1-1.
- Email us at email@example.com for all COVID-19 related requests.
- Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you need practical help related to COVID-19.
- Don’t miss out on the teaching of God’s Word. Access our teaching content on our podcast.
All events outside of Community Groups and the new Sunday House Church gatherings are postponed until further notice including, but not limited to,South Vancouver Prayer Training, Women’s Bible Study, Kitsilano Family Meeting, South Vancouver Welcome Lunch.
Please continue to take the recommended personal preventative measures as outlined by the BCCDC:
– wash your hands often with soap and water
– cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing
– avoid others who are unwell
– and stay home when you are sick
Lastly, can I encourage you to be Romans 8:18 Christians, living as non-anxious people in this present time because of the hope we have in “the glory that is to be revealed”.
On behalf of the elders of Christ City,
Jon Bryars, Executive Pastor
