As a response to the COVID-19 Pandemic we want to love people through practical means as an overflow of the love Christ has for us.
Here are 4 ways you can get involved:
If you know someone in need, whether it be within the Christ City community or someone not yet part of Christ City, fill out our Care Application Form to make us aware of any of the below needs:
- Prayer and Discipleship (For any number of spiritual needs in this season including anxiety and loneliness)
- Short-term Financial Assistance (For those who have been economically affected by COVID-19)
- Government Program Consultancy (For those who need assistance navigating EI and other government programs designed to help with COVID-19)
Applications do not guarantee an action/response but we will endeavour to help where we can.
2. Jacob’s Well Partnership
Christ City is thrilled to partner with Jacob’s Well, a Christian non-profit located in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) of Vancouver in collecting vital sanitization supplies and needed groceries for our neighbours in the DTES, where the negative impacts of COVID-19 are especially noticeable.
In loving response to the needs in our city, Christ City will now be collecting needed groceries and supplies to help Jacob’s Well in their efforts to meet these pressing needs.
Donate supplies and groceries: Every Monday, Christ City will be accepting donations at Christ City South Vancouver for groceries and needed sanitization supplies. Volunteers will be on-site from 9-4pm each Monday to accept all drop-offs and will then organize these donations and deliver them to Jacob’s Well in the DTES. We will update a google doc each week with the items needed (including an indication of the items of highest importance). That document can be found here.
3. Join a House Church (South Vancouver Only)
Much of the care and support at Christ City comes by way of smaller groups within the church. If you need support or wish to find an avenue to care for people, then House Church Online is for you! Join a House Church Online today.
4. Crisis Pregnancy Support
For the fourth year now, we are supporting the Crisis Pregnancy Centre in their annual Operation Baby Bottle Drive to raise funds. The Crisis Pregnancy Centre provides non-judgemental, compassionate support and information on all pregnancy options for women struggling with an unplanned pregnancy or grief after an abortion. Normally we fill baby bottles with coins and cash but this year because of the pandemic, we encourage donating online until Father’s Day. Be sure to include you are from Christ City Church- it is so good to do this together.
